What comes up for me, reading this: My life. Life in general. Death. Beauty. Magic. Thank you for sharing yourself with the world. It is both generous and helpful. P.S. photography as meditation is real.
what a story to read - something that came up for me is using art/space/blogs/writing/photos/videos to capture deep emotion and feeling and creating something for 1) YOU & also what happens when we share that thing? I feel nostalgic almost daily & am recognizing that this is just a part of me - this part needs nurturing and art and space to feel and breathe. I think about moments passing quickly often and capturing light ... being present in light and shadows around the campground I live in. I feel like I'm never doing enough, but maybe I need to throw that feeling away and let it go and feel good about what I am doing. I want to create a legacy like Jim Goldberg, but I think thats just making the art and letting go of the rest.
Yes, yes, yes. I’ve always felt a homesickness of sorts that I’ve never been able to put my finger on but it most certainly fades away when I’m creating. I think the act of creation is in a way the thing we are nostalgic for. I think that can feel like the truest sense of home in our being. A wonderful merging of receiving, being, engaging.
I feel so restless with all I want to create (totally feels like never doing enough) that it almost paralyzes me from doing anything at all.
Being less precious about it helps me move.
(Also I just bought Jim Goldberg new book so if you don’t have it and come to town we need a coffee date and peruse sesh)
Yesss, yes would love that, friend. I am interested in hosting a "slow *looking session" where folks can gather to slowly look at an art work, engage with it deeply, share thoughts/feelings/insights with each other on the work. I feel like this would be right up your alley ... Jim's work would be perfect for this.
